Reimagining Infrastructure in the Age of AI, Digital Transformation and Climate Change

Shape the Future of Infraestructure

Building a Shared, Sustainable & Resilient Future

What is the World Infrastructure Forum?

The World Infrastructure Forum (WIF) is a high-level international platform dedicated to rethinking how infrastructure is conceived, financed, delivered and governed in the 21st century.

Co-led by leading global institutions, WIF convenes decision-makers from across the infrastructure ecosystem — academia, industry, finance, technology and public institutions — to explore how infrastructure systems must evolve to respond to climate change, technological transformation and new economic realities.

Through strategic dialogue and cross-sector collaboration, the forum seeks to accelerate the transformation of infrastructure towards more resilient, sustainable and digitally enabled systems.

A Global Platform

WIF brings together a curated community of global leaders committed to shaping the future of infrastructure.

How it works

A biannual global forum, by invitation only, permanently hosted in Madrid — a neutral and globally connected capital at the crossroads of Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia. The first edition takes place in October 2026.

Our purpose

To foster collaboration, innovation, and shared responsibility — building the infrastructures that enable a viable, sustainable, and resilient future.

Co-founded by MIT, UPM, the World Bank and UT Austin, WIF is a non-profit initiative that aims to accelerate the transformation of infrastructure systems to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global context.

The World Infrastructure Forum is supported by a select Advisory Committee composed of leading organizations from across the global infrastructure ecosystem.Engineering firms, infrastructure investors, technology companies, insurers, multilateral institutions and academic leaders contribute their expertise and strategic insight to help shape the forum’s agenda and long-term vision.Together, they represent the diversity of perspectives required to address the complex challenges facing infrastructure systems worldwide.

The organizing and managing entity of the Forum is the Agustín de Betancourt Foundation, responsible for its operational and administrative execution, ensuring institutional coherence and the proper coordination between the founding institutions and the business and academic ecosystem.
